Ashley Nelson has been practicing yoga for 20+ years. She also teaches meditation and mindfulness, bringing wellness and mindfulness + emotional intelligence programs to the corporate and non profit world. She developed her practice under the guidance of Claire Mark, Quinn Kearney and Tom Quinn, completing Yogaview's Teacher Training in 2011 and is also a trained MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) teacher, finishing her training in 2016 from UC San Diego, Center for the Healthy Mind. Ashley has a deep appreciation for mindfulness, meditation, breathing, and asana practice as a way to create space, reduce stress, and increase awareness in life. Her classes blend classic poses with vinyasa flow, emphasizing alignment and attention to breath. Currently, Ashley's favorite poses are arm balances and inversions. Her classes feel fun, casual, and are non-judgmental, using music as a backdrop, with touches of humor and spirituality throughout. She teaches yoga as a way to give back to others, connect to her community, and feels grateful for the perspective that yoga offers her. Ashley has two teen/young adult daughters who keep life interesting & offer her a real time incubator for her mindfulness practice. She is the founder of Inseus, and teaches at various studios & corporations in Chicago & Michigan, and is thrilled to be joining Coconut Yoga, teaching in her own neighborhood for the last 20 years!
Her classes are therapeutic, inspiring, and accessible to all levels in efforts to encourage students to find comfort and inner strength as they grow in their practice. Her intention is to help students embody their full potential and to tap into their own inner peace and happiness.
